DRUMS & PERCUSSION

International freelance drummer Domenico "Itachan" Composto has supported a wide range of international pop artists such as t.A.T.u. and Lene Nystrom (Aqua), as well as opening for Sting at the Universal Music International Convention 2004 in Tokyo, Japan.

His televised appearances have included performances on Japan's number one music program Music Station and the Japanese cable music channel Viewsic. His live concert with Lene Nystrom (Aqua) at the Nagoya Rainbow Hall aired on Japanese radio ZIP-FM 77.8.

During his formative years, Dom e Niko performed and toured with a variety of musical ensembles ranging from big band jazz to classical music at New Trier High School, where he trained in percussion and mallet instruments.

 

He pursued music at Indiana University, where he studied Afro-Cuban and Brazilian rhythms under acclaimed percussionist Andrew Lazaro before transferring to Boston University to earn his bachelor's degrees in Archaeology and Anthropology.

Domenico has worked as a professional drum tech for Terry Bozzio, Chad Wackerman, Jimmy Chamberlin (The Smashing Pumpkins), Jeff Hamilton, Steven Smith (Journey, Vital Information, Mariah Carey), Zakir Hussain (John McLaughlin), Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), Russ Miller (Ray Charles, Tina Turner, Nelly Furtado), and Akira Jimbo (Casiopea).

 

His musical influences range from jazz fusion to electronica, to funk to progressive rock. He counts Sting, Dave Matthews Band, Mike Stern, Eric Johnson, Dennis Chambers, Jaco Pastorius, Kenji Hino, Marcus Miller, Nir Z, John Mayer, Square Pusher, Sarah McLachlan, Tracy Chapman, Ojos de Brujo, and Rush as some of his greatest sources of musical inspiration.
